After five seasons at Carolina, Assistant Coach Steve Rubin announced Tuesday that he has accepted the position of Head Coach of men's cross country and track and field at Amherst College. Rubin continually had Tar Heels on the national stage, guiding student-athletes to All-ACC and All-America status in sprinting, hurdling, jumping and relay events. His student-athletes won a combined nine ACC Championships and 17 All-America honors in the 400 meters, 400-meter hurdles, 4x400 and long jump. Above all, he did it while recruiting student-athletes who valued their academics as much as their performances in the oval. “It's just been a complete blast to get to coach these kids, because they are definitely special and they have great abilities, but they've got great character too,” Rubin said. “I feel very lucky to have just had the opportunity to be a part of that.” Good Luck Coach Rubin! We will miss you but wish you even more success in this next endeavor. #TarHeelTF🎽🐑
