Say g’day to Reservist Garth Smith 🙋‍♂️ ⁣ ⁣ Victoria Police Historical Society rediscovered this gem of the local legend. Garth was part of the Geelong Mobile Traffic Section in 1969, before rejoining Victoria Police as a reservist, which he still does to this day. ⁣ ⁣ It’s been quite some time since Garth was last on a motorbike, but we were lucky to recreate this happy snap to compare the changes in motorcycle safety over the past 50 years. ⁣ ⁣ Since Garth last strapped on his helmet and riding boots, numerous improvements to motorcycles and road systems have taken place to ensure rider safety, including: ⁣ 🏍️ A significant advancement to protective gear that has improved performance and crash protection. ⁣ 🏍️ Protection from all elements (rain, hail or shine) to combat rider awareness and fatigue. ⁣ 🏍️ Improved impact and abrasion resistance and better weather resistance and ventilation. ⁣ 🏍️ Higher visibility materials and reflective tape. ⁣ ⁣ Motorbike safety features have al...
