BUFHA is grateful for Amanda (Smith) Lugg ‘10 “I am working as a Newborn Nursery and Mother/Baby nurse at a hospital in New Jersey. As we all know, babies have not stopped coming into the world during the Covid-19 pandemic. As an expectant mother myself, I know first-hand the increased anxiety this is causing for all new moms. My co-workers and I have been doing everything we can to keep mothers and babies healthy and safe during this time. Our unit has also been taking care of expecting and new moms diagnosed with Covid-19. These women are not able to have a support person with them in the hospital and unfortunately have to be separated from their newborn at birth. We work very hard to offer them whatever support we can and reunite them as soon as possible. I am extremely grateful for all essential personnel working during this time and feel honored to witness their remarkable teamwork firsthand.
