The Oregon Coast Aquarium has unveiled another renovation, just in time for Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday, the Newport aquarium officially opened its Rocky Coast gallery (formerly known as Rocky Shores), home of its popular touch pool, where visitors can gently prod intertidal creatures like sea stars, urchins and anemones. The opening is one part of the aquarium’s years-long renovation project, originally slated at $18 million, which aims to overhaul much of the facility, which opened to the public in 1992.
