🌿 rewild partner haiti_national_trust is working to restore Grand Bois National Park by employing local community members in their efforts to cultivate native plants. Each month, on average 50 individuals are hired from the Grand Bois community, providing them with additional sources of income. In a country where less than 1% of its original forests remain, Haiti National Trust is at the forefront of Haiti’s conservation efforts, and proudly celebrates the significant milestone of hiring a workforce comprised of 40% women.
Haiti National Trust’s native plant nursery operations have expanded to three different locations, capable of caring for over 350,000 plants for their reforestation efforts. This work now spans 23 different native and endemic plant species, with this number continually increasing. Since 2023, Haiti National Trust has replanted over 13% of the land they own within Grand Bois National Park. Learn more - link in bio.
