On Wednesday, on a new episode of the Team Deakins Podcast, actor Paul Schneider (BRIGHT STAR, THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES, GEORGE WASHINGTON) joins us in conversation. Paul shares how a viewing of Jane Campion’s THE PIANO kickstarted his desire to work in film and reveals how he felt during the full-circle moment when she offered him a role in BRIGHT STAR. Paul also shares how, to prepare for the role, he practiced his Scottish accent by studying a copy of TRAINSPOTTING. We later discuss the importance of a director having a clear vision for a film and loving a collaborative director who includes their crew and cast in their creative decision making. Paul also explains the Kuleshov effect to us and how his time in school studying editing has informed his approach to acting.
