Last night, Team Deakins had a great conversation with long time friend and fellow cinematographer, Dick Pope. But here’s a little pre-show story. Dick arrived with his own china light (forget my dinky little ring light) and the boys then “lit the set”. We turned on practicals, we turned them off. We closed the curtains, we opened them. Just when I thought we were done, one of them would jump up and fiddle with something in the background. I know Roger has been called “Tweakin’ Deakins” but we’re going to have to come up with a similar name for Dick. He was so similar to Roger last night!
