In this episode, Lee tells us that his job is to make movies entertaining and not confusing, how he likes to work with clear and decisive directors, how he avoids editing fatigue, and that he sometimes he has to cut in ways he doesn’t like to best serve the film. He advises young editors who don’t agree with a director to always make a cut the director wants, but to make an alternative cut as well. Lee says that you typically find out what is wrong with the edit when you start to pull things apart and how, although there might be a million choices, cutting should feel effortless.
