Captain Felicia Barnes graduated from Recruit Class 106 in 2002. She served the communities of Fairview (Fire Station 32) and Merrifield (Fire Station 30) as a firefighter. On Tuesday, Fairfax Fire Chief John Butler announced Barnes' promotion to Battalion Chief, making her the first African American woman to hold the position in Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department history.
