This is Mike. He’s not a soccer player, but his buddies call him “Foot.” After unsuccessful searches of things to do, I decided to go for a walk and see where I ended up. I turned down Auburn Ave. Auburn Ave is a historic African-American neighborhood, nicknamed “Sweet Auburn.” I started walking, took some photos, read the historical signs, and soon ran into Mike. A cab driver had asked where I was going thinking I needed a ride, but I said just going for a walk. Mike saw my camera and pointed “Read that.” “The Oldest Black Shop In Atlanta.” Mike asked “You ever seen King’s house?” I said no. “I’m gonna give you a history walk.” Mike walked up all of “The A” with me. Sharing what abandoned buildings used to be, introducing me to his friends, and showing me his old favorite spot for ribs (“ooooh man, they fell right off the bone”).
