THE “MOVEMENT” WAS CAPITALIZED ON AND ABANDONED WHEN IT WAS NO LONGER “TRENDING”.

During the summer of 2020 everyone acted like they cared after George Floyd’s lynching and Black Lives, but it was only a trend. 😒
It was labeled as the largest civil rights protest in American history with an estimated 15-26 million people protesting by July of that year. Companies pledged billions of dollars. Cities painted streets with Black Lives Matter. Pro sports teams knelt together and plastered fields and courts with the same phrase. Politicians knelt with kente cloth. Cities claimed they were ready to defund the police. Statues came down. Social media users blackened their screens. Companies created a record number of DEI jobs and supporting Black-owned businesses became the trend. 😯
Everyone acted like they cared…. Until it wasn’t trendy anymore. 🤦🏾♂️
Since then, many DEI jobs have been eliminated, a record number of Black History books and courses have been banned. ...
