“When I’m playing, I’m representing a whole state while doing it.” Lacrosse is a tight-knit community, especially in Oregon where Ajax grew up. Everything shrinks and becomes magnified in a place where most are unfamiliar with the sport. So Ajax feels lucky to have had such a great support system there. Coaches that pushed him and parents that would drive an RV across the country just to watch him play. At Maryland, he was the only player on the team from the west coast. He was also the only player to be drafted number 3 in the PLL, awarded the Big Ten Medal of Honor, named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, and Player of the Year. On and off the field, Ajax aims to treat people how he wants to be treated. He’s the kind of guy you call in the middle of the night when you need something. He’ll pick up, and show up for you. And today, just like every other day, is another best day ever for Ajax Zappitello. #BehindTheMask
