Did you know that among those aged 25-64 years old, 50% of persons with disabilities are employed, compared to 80% of those without disabilities? We need to bridge this gap and create more opportunities for everyone to participate meaningfully.
Among those with disabilities aged 25-64 years old who were not employed and not currently in school, 39% had the potential to work. Employed persons with disabilities still have incomes that fall short of those without disabilities.
According to a Statistics Canada report, more than one-third of employees with disabilities aged 25-64 years required at least one type of workplace accommodation. Flexible work arrangements, workstation modifications, and human or technical supports are common accommodations provided.
