For Holland Bloorview clients and families, play is a central occupation of childhood! Through the occupation of play, children and youth learn about themselves and the world around them, form social connections, develop physically, socially and emotionally, learn life skills, explore environments, relax, restore and more! With play being so important, an OT and OTA might partner with a client and family to enable play participation across many areas of life by. For example: (1) providing a specialized seat so that the child can sit supported and play with toys in the bathtub (2) collaborate with a teacher to make modifications so that the child can participate to the fullest with peers at recess (3) advocate for funding so that the child can take adapted skiing lessons on the weekends. Please join us in celebrating Holland Bloorview’s wonderful Occupational Therapists (OTs), Occupational Therapist Assistants and students with this year’s theme of “Play is My Favourite Occupation”...
