Ever wonder why some things only glow when they’re under UV light? You might be looking at fluorescein - learn more below! 👇
What’s happening in the beaker?
In this experiment, we added fluorescein to some water and shined a UV light on it to make it fluoresce, aka glow. You’ll notice that this glow only happened when we shined the UV light on the mixture – this means that the glow is a special type of UV- triggered luminescence called fluorescence. A similar reaction occurs when shining a UV light on certain paints, highlighters, detergents, fluorite, and even honey!
