Stretch the balloon over the toilet paper roll with the knot in the center. Then tape it down. Decorate the tube with tape or colorful paper. Place a pinch of confetti inside the tube. Then pull back on the knot and let go! Tip: For a less messy option, try launching small pom-poms instead. What’s going on? Balloons snap back when they’re stretched out, just like rubber bands. When the balloon is stretched out and ready to snap, that’s potential energy, or the potential to do work.
