She’s a proud Wiradjuri woman born on country in Narrandera, New South Wales, and she’s one of our Aboriginal Community Liaison Officers (ACLOs). ⁣ ⁣ As an ACLO in Ballarat, Deb consults with the local Aboriginal community and provides advice to Victoria Police on local Aboriginal issues and encourages the local Aboriginal community to engage with police. ⁣ ⁣ She spent 16 years working in the justice and corrections areas before becoming an ACLO in February. It was Deb’s husband, who was a police officer with Victoria Police for 45 years, who encouraged her to apply.⁣ ⁣ To Deb Reconciliation Week means acknowledging the significance of the week and continuing to build respectful relationships between non-Aboriginal and Aboriginal people and supporting her colleagues to do so as well. ⁣ ⁣ She acknowledges she has an opportunity as an ACLO to help work towards reconciliation with integrity and respect. ⁣ ⁣ L...
