#WorldWCR has invited 24 women from 19 countries to compete across circuits in Italy, the UK, Portugal, Hungary, and Spain this summer. It aims to create an equal footing with other championships while creating a dedicated, and barrier breaking, space for women in professional racing.
On May 16 and 17, the riders, a mix of known names and new emerging talent, took to the Cremona_Circuit track for testing. With all 24 women competing with the same Yamaha YZF-R7 equipment, they began with initial briefings and set-ups before opening the track for free practice sessions. The women battled the weather on day one, but with seven dry sessions across day two, AnaCarrasco_22 found herself finishing at the top of both days’ timesheets, with a top lap time of 1:41.446.
