ONGOING SHIPWRECK STUDY on Little Talbot Island! The Lighthouse Archaeological Maritime Program team has been working on the shipwreck on Little Talbot Island that is from the 1800s — discovered in 1987. The LAMP team recorded it after Hurricane Dorian in 2019, and went to investigate it this week, and discovered that it has shifted after the recent hurricanes in 2022. From Archaeologist Chuck Meide, "Over the last 30 years it has been buried and exposed and reburied by storms, and has been moved by major hurricanes. LAMP came out to assess its condition after Hurricane Dorian, Ian and now Nicole. We are hoping to study the wreckage and see if we can narrow down the date range and geographic origins for the ship, and possibly its identity." SHIPWRECK ARTIFACTS + MORE!
