The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum’s Director of Archaeology, Chuck Meide, was invited to speak at the International Shipwreck Conference in Hamburg, Germany, from November 18th - 20th. Producers of the conference asked Chuck to speak after seeing our research team’s work conducted on the Crescent Beach Shipwreck in the fall of 2021. The conference is called “Shipwrecks in the Intertidal Zone: Archaeological and Historical Approaches.” Chuck will speak about his paper, titled “‘Skeletons of Foundered Ships:’ Intertidal Shipwrecks of St. Augustine, Florida, America’s Oldest Port.” It focuses on the beached shipwrecks of St. Augustine’s coast that our Lighthouse Archaeological Maritime Program has surveyed and worked on over the years. This conference is available via live stream. If you would like to watch Chuck’s presentation, visit the link in the bio and tune in at 12:20 PM on Saturday, November 19th. • • • • #MaritimeMonday #LAMP #MaritimeArchaeology #Cresce...
