Bob Douglas has been a volunteer since 2015. His interest in history and archaeology came in handy when he saw a volunteer recruitment advertisement in the local paper. He led “Behind the Scenes,” a guided history tour, as a docent until the Demo Program was initiated. Starr Cox, Director of Archaeological Conservation, invited him to volunteer in the lab. Over the span of seven years, he has accrued 1,190 hours of service.
Born in southern Illinois and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Bob graduated from Miami University on a Navy ROTC scholarship in 1968. He graduated college, married his wife, Kathryn, and relocated to Pensacola, Florida, in one weekend!
There, he trained as a Navy Pilot and spent 21 years in the military. Eleven moves later, Bob retired as a pilot and worked on contract to train future pilots for the following 20 years.
