Heritage Boatworks volunteers and Museum staff moved the Yawl last week in preparation for a test run on the water. The British Yawl, dating to 1760, was a standard ship’s boat used by the Royal Navy. This vessel type originally came from Norway, where it was known as a “yole” and was clinker-planked (plank edges overlapping), double-ended, and highly seaworthy. • • • • #WoodworkingWednesday #HeritageBoatworks #Wooden #Boatbuilding #Yawl #LoveYourLighthouse #StAugustineLighthouse #StaLighthouse #NationsOldestPort #StAugustine #KeepTheLightShining
