Florida State Director for flsenrickscott, Alexandra Ojeda, visited the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum yesterday with District Director Gary Hollis and Senate interns. Our Executive Director, Kathy Fleming, toured the group and discussed the national significance of our region’s maritime heritage.
The U.S. House Natural Resources Committee recently passed H.R. 2107: Nation’s Oldest Port® National Heritage Area Act. This bill would establish a National Heritage Area in this unique part of the American landscape, which runs from the northernmost part of Florida to Flagler County. The bill is currently awaiting consideration by the entire U.S. House of Representatives.
This tremendous regional initiative would support public and private partnerships that promote conservation, historic preservation, recreation, and heritage tourism.
