St. Augustine has always been the destination for people from other places! Like many others before and after him, Elias Wallen moved to the city after living in Savannah as a merchant. In 1828, Wallen was sued for poor workmanship on the lighthouse tower and Keeper's house due to failing plaster on the exterior.
