The St. Augustine Lighthouse wasn't always open to the public. During both World War I and World War II, the Light Station closed to civilian visitors. Based in this sign dated 1912, the Light Station was open from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon and then from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM except Sundays and holidays. Even the Keepers needed a lunch break.
