Alfie's story ✨ "We got Alfie as a puppy in August 2017. He instantly became my baby and my best friend all rolled into one. Fast forward to March 31st 2022 Alfie came back from a usual walk, he was a little wobbly on his feet and couldn’t get up the first step of ours stairs. His back was arched but he didn’t cry out in pain. We took him straight to the vet where the assessed him and sent us home with pain relief and suggested keeping an eye on him and bring him back tomorrow. Within an hour of getting home Alfie couldn’t stand at all. We rushed him back to the vets where they sent us to a specialist. Alfie was assessed again, and diagnosed with stage 5 IVDD, he was only 4 years old. Alfie still had DPS at this point and he would undergo spinal surgery the next morning. After surgery Alfie had no DPS and a 20% chance of ever walking again, and euthanasia was suggested. ❤️‍🩹 But we weren’t going to give up on him ❤️‍🩹 He stayed at the vets for a week before coming home ...
