What is the posterior chain and why is it important? The posterior chain refers to the 'backside' of our bodies which collectively include gluteus, hamstrings, erector spinae, lats and calves. The posterior chain should be an area of focus when working out for everyone including motorsport athletes. Strengthening these muscles can help reduce low back pain, improve overall posture, and enhance athletic performance. A strong posterior chain is crucial for an F1 driver as most of the braking load is absorbed through the posterior chain. Swipe left to see some simple and effective home exercises you can do to strengthen your posterior chain.
