While a calorie or energy deficit is an important factor for losing weight, starvation caused by extreme calorie deficits can be detrimental to health and, additionally, are very unsustainable. One of the most effective methods for burning fat while also keeping lean muscle is by reducing your daily calorie intake by 200-300 calories from your Total Daily Energy Expenditure while maintaining a healthy diet.
