When I first speak to new clients, many start my programs believing that you have to eat a very low number of calories to lose weight. What they don't know, though, is that heavily restricting your diet will most likely result in binge eating that will then unbalance any calorie deficit they were in. The same goes for having cheat days! Eating these extreme, unbalanced diets are not only unsustainable as they limit your cognitive functions, physical capabilities and ability to socialise but can kill motivation.
Calorie control comes from understanding your daily calorie requirements and then balancing your meals to adopt these requirements. For example, if you plan to go out for a big meal with your friends, reduce the number of calories you would consume for breakfast and lunch to balance your daily calories.
