The question I will be answering for this week's #MythBustingwithMichael is: "Does lifting weights or incorporating weights into training make women bulkier?" As men have high levels of testosterone (20 to 30 times more), lifting weights and progressive overload can result in muscle gain - the same does not apply to women, though, due to their lower levels of testosterone. Unless you specifically train and eat to increase your muscle mass, it is unlikely that incorporating weights into your training will give you a "bulky" look. Instead, adding weights to your workouts can actually help you lose fat faster as muscle burns more calories at rest than fat, make you feel stronger, and also improve your bone density. 💪 Comment any nutrition or fitness related questions you would like me to answer next or click the link in my bio to join my coaching platforms.
