A small but important fish is making a comeback in a Nova Scotia watershed.
Back in 1881 a federal Department of Marine and Fisheries official noted the significant lack of fish when he toured the watershed at Sandy Lake.
Over 135 years later, the gaspereau are back due to the construction of a 4 million dollar 500 foot fish ladder by nspowerinc a few years ago.
It was awesome to see this ladder today, and how quickly it worked to attract back the fish, and learn about the 30 gigawatt hours of hydroelectricity per year they generate from the water system.
