We’re always ready for Mardi Gras! Are you? Some people might think of Mardi Gras as a single day event but it's actually much more than that! Today marks the official kickoff to Carnival season and is known as Twelfth Night (happening 12 days after Christmas). Several events are typically scheduled on January 6 in New Orleans, starting with a morning press conference and king cake party by the mayor at historic Gallier Hall. Mardi Gras parades have been passing by this historic site since the very first parade in 1857. Fat Tuesday marks the last day of the Carnival season and is the day that most people associate with Mardi Gras.
