At just 14 months old, Sierra began wheezing and having trouble breathing. She was airlifted to WMCHealth's Maria Fareri Children's Hospital when her breathing worsened and she was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. After spending time in the hospital's pediatric ICU, Sierra's treatments included chemotherapy, blood and platelet transfusions, and radiation. After many inpatient stays, Sierra left Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, cancer free!
"We were in the hospital more than we were at home," remembers Racheal, Sierra's mother. "The nurses, doctors, and entire staff all became a second family to us. Fast forward to now, I know I chose the right path. My daughter is now 17, happy and healthy as a freshman in college. Without Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, I wouldn't have my daughter. They are the best."
