Meet this week's Childhood Cancer Warrior, Roberto!
On June 23, 2021 Roberto was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma. Ewing sarcoma is a very rare form of cancer that causes tumors to grow in your bones or on the soft tissue around them. Although devastated by the news, Roberto's family was determined to help him beat cancer and brought Roberto to Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital (MFCH) for treatment.
While Roberto endured several weeks of chemotherapy he enjoyed the art therapy services provided at MFCH, as it helped him get his mind off of treatment. Roberto eventually had surgery to remove his tumor, which was followed by several weeks of radiation.
Although Roberto is still dealing with the side effects of cancer he has a clean bill of health! Now he's in fourth grade and is looking forward to celebrating his first post-cancer birthday, next month!
