my first full weekend of sports car racing 🏁 Recently I was invited to cota_official for the SRO race weekend. Throughout it I wrote down a few observations and thoughts from someone familiar with single-seater racing but newer to sports car series. 1. I saw so many kids’ eyes light up having “up close” moments with the cars and drivers — all ticket holders had access to the paddock. 🤩 2. With five series racing, the on track action is almost constant so there’s PLENTY to see over the weekend. 3. To learn the basics, it helped me to find the crossover points between the series I know best (F1) and SRO. For example, yellow flag procedures exist across racing series but procedures/verbiage vary — in sro_motorsport series you’ll hear “local yellow” describing a yellow flag at a specific turn, as opposed to hearing “yellow flag in sector __” in F1. ⚠️ 4.
