First, this is a very challenging throw to attempt. The mark is flat against the sideline and the thrower tries to send it through a narrow window, just what the Atlanta defense wants. Matt Smith is covering a receiver downfield in a position where he can watch the play. He anticipates the throw and takes off to sandwich the receiver. When the disc floats Matt makes a great move to get between the disc and the receiver for the block. The receiver never knew he was there and so never adjusted to attack the disc.
