These magnificent giants can reach lengths of up to 100 feet and weigh as much as 200 tons. Despite their immense size, blue whales primarily feed on tiny shrimp-like creatures known as krill, consuming thousands of pounds of krill each day. Here we see the blue whale exhaling forcefully through its blowhole, a specialized nostril located on the top of its head. It expels warm, moist air and seawater, then inhales fresh air before diving again.
