Leighann Mazzone, MSN, RN, CEN, Emergency Department Nurse Manager, was named as the inaugural Penn Presbyterian Medical Center DAISY Nurse Leader Award Honoree. Leighann was nominated by James Glatts, an ED Nurse, who wrote:
“The Emergency Department has gone through a tremendous amount of stress and burden through the ongoing pandemic, the recent surge in gun violence, staff turnover, transitioning care models, and numerous other events and circumstances. Through all of this, Leighann is present and active on the unit ensuring staff have the physical and emotional support to provide optimal care in suboptimal times.
“She leads by example, often ditching her white coat to help out clinically. She is compassionate, understanding, approachable and welcoming.
