The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) expanded eligibility for people with Medicare to get lung cancer screening (LDCT). They lowered the starting age for screening from 55 to 50 years and reduced the tobacco smoking history from at least 30 packs per year to at least 20 packs per year. This expanded coverage broadens access for lung cancer screening to wider at-risk populations and will help detect cancer earlier. Lung cancer is one of the most common cancers and the leading cause of cancer-related death in both men and women in the United States. Early detection by low-dose CT screening can decrease lung cancer mortality by 14-20% among a high-risk population. If you fit the criteria, we recommend looking into your insurance coverage options and talking to your healthcare provider about getting screened. 🔗 in bio for more information. #lungcancer #lungcancerscreening #getscreened #cancerscreening #cancerprevention #LDCT #smoking #quitsmoking #cancerrisk #dontsmoke...
