Penn Medicine’s first COVID-19 vaccinations began this morning at Pennsylvania Hospital, marking the latest inspirational milestone for our nation’s first hospital. Emergency department nurse Eric Young, RN, BSN, who had just ended his night shift at the hospital, was the first health system staff member to receive the vaccine – to applause from those gathered. Proudly administering the shot to Young was Joanne Ruggiero, MSN, MA, his former nursing school study partner at LaSalle University, who is now clinical director for Women’s Health and Behavioral Health. Vaccinations will begin at other hospitals across the health system in the coming days. We are thrilled to be able to offer the #covidvaccine to our #healthcareheroes. There are brighter days up ahead. 🌈 ☀️ #PennTogether #TogetherWeCan
