Every spring male sage grouse gather to strut their stuff in riveting mating rituals — as seen in this video — punctuating their displays with swishing, hooting and popping sounds. And of course, expanding and contracting their distinctive yellow air sacs to compete for females' favor. These fancy-dancing sage grouse depend on the Sagebrush Sea to survive. But fossil fuel drilling, livestock grazing, climate change and more are degrading their habitat.
