Canisius High School won two Canadian national championship gold medals while the Senior Eight took bronze at the Canadian Secondary Schools Rowing Association regatta this weekend in St. Catharines, Ontario. Overall, the program coached by Jacob Filby ’14 put 10 boats into the grand finals on Martindale Pond in the 77th annual running of the prestigious CSSRA. The Junior Men’s Four, composed of Ethan Pirigyi ’26, Oliver Reynolds ’26, Brodie Vitko ’27, Owen Gray ’26 and Leo Mertz ’26 earned gold by defeating a fast-closing boat from E.L. Crossley (Ontario) by 0.3 seconds to claim the national title. Liam Feeney and Isaiah Aljuwani dominated the Senior Pair race, winning by open water over the all-Canadian field.
