Meet Ken. A few days ago, he became our 1,000th patient to receive a new aortic valve through a procedure known as TAVR, or transcather aortic valve replacement. Without the need of open heart surgery, doctors implanted a new valve into Ken’s heart, using a catheter threaded through an artery. He went home the next day.
