A few takeaways: ⬛️ A deeper understanding of why “colorblindness” and “not seeing color” is damaging. ⬛️ Potential ways that children will try to process racial differences if they aren’t discussed. ⬛️ Thoughtful responses to uncomfortable questions or statements from children about race and racism. ⬛️ Ideas on discussing racism with children without using the word “racism.” ⬛️ Ideas on discussing white privilege with children without white-shaming. ⬛️ Encouragement to educate children on American leaders and figures of all races who did great, positive things but are not often, if at all, discussed in the school system.
