March 2016 // wolfsmuseum
In honor of re-watching The Exorcist today here is me- slightly whisky enhanced- dancing with an uncomfortably life-like Regan MacNeil doll after wrapping a 15-hour production day.
This production was my first ever directed short film with buckadilla as my champion of a DP. We were a totally-in-it-for-the-experience-volunteer film crew that reached 20 deep on some days. We spent 5 straight 15-hr days shooting 15-20 scenes a day and basically living in an oddity museum together alongside the writer and executive producer, Wolfgang Mertz, and his wife, Ali. We shot fire breathers, an axe murder, a sword swallower, a hanging ghost, a mermaid, an electrocution, and a human combustion. One day our whole crew passed around John Wayne Gacy’s personal bible from when he was on death row. ( we are all basically haunted people now )
It was the most absurd and deeply weird productions I’ve been on to date. It was also the most challenging, collaborative, and connected...
