Mother’s Day 2018 // I was proudly raised by strong southern women who conquered the 50’s. So much of who I am and how I view life comes from what I have learned from those women. I was a curve ball in the life of my mother, Barbara Ann, who began raising me late in her life. With 5 other children on her Mother resume, she did the best damn job she knew how alongside my two Great Aunts [ Doris Jane and Billie Joe ] and my Great Grandmother, Retha Worley. My early childhood was spent on black water rivers, front porches, trails through the woods, gardens that put Southern Living magazine to shame and chasing chickens in pens. In this area of my life I was extremely lucky and appreciative of my roots. Unfortunately for us, Billie Joe and Retha left us to go to a beyond that I hope has a lot of sweet tea, cigarettes and powdered snuff. Jane and Barb are still killing it [ as pictured ] and I learn something new about life every time I’m with them. Sharing them with Shannon now is an endle...
