The Diamond Heels scored the tying run in the top of the ninth and the winning run in the top of the 10th to earn a thrilling 4-3 win against defending national champion LSU in the NCAA Regional Final on Monday night at Boshamer Stadium. UNC scored two runs in the top of the first after loading the bases with nobody out, but the Tigers methodically came back with runs in the bottom of the first, second, and third innings to take the lead. In the ninth, Colby Wilkerson came through with the game-tying RBI against Tiger ace Gage Jump, sending the game to extra innings. Alex Madera then drove in the winning run in the 10th before Dalton Pence slammed the door. Carolina will host West Virginia in the NCAA Super Regionals this weekend.
