I was living on land in Utah at the time and my neighbors had a big garden and were growing beets — which I LOVE. I, as the wild child that I was — and quite frankly still am — decided that *stealing* a beet and hiding in the bushes to eat it raw and still covered in dirt was a wonderful idea. 

I snuck home, thoroughly pleased with myself, not realizing that my entire face was stained red.
