Hey friends, Tour Guide Sully here! More cemeteries you say? Well, it IS Halloween! Have you ever heard of Bonaventure Cemetery? No? Good thing you're here with me then! Bonaventure Cemetery was started in 1846 under the name Evergreen Cemetery. Designed as a traditional Victorian Era cemetery, it featured curving pathways and lots of trees and green spaces. It was not uncommon for families to take a picnic lunch and spend the day at the cemetery "visiting" with deceased relatives. There are many famous people buried here, including Conrad Aiken and Johnny Mercer. However, it was not until the cemetery was prominently featured in a book called 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil' that it gained any sort of recognition outside of Savannah. Be sure to look it up and check out the images online - you'll never see a more hauntingly beautiful place (no pun intended). #sullysassypants #tourguidesully #savannahdogs #dogsofsavannah #savannahcelebrity #bonaventure #bonaventurecemeter...
