Mark D. Ross, better known as 2 Live Crew's Brother Marquis, has died at the age of 58. No cause of death has been made publicly available. ⁠ ⁠ "Mark Ross AKA Brother Marquis of the 2 Live crew has went to the upper room," 2 Live Crew wrote on Instagram.⁠ ⁠ Born in New York, Ross joined the Miami-based 2 Live Crew in 1986 and appeared on their 1989 breakout album As Nasty As They Wanna Be. The album gained notoriety after it was was deemed obscene by a court in Florida and became the first album in U.S. history to be banned for that reason.
